في هذا الكتاب قراءة نقدية مستفيضة للإنتاج الفكري والأدبي في الشعر والرواية لمجموعة من الكتاب يأتي على ذكرهم "البريدي" ويحلل نصوصهم، ويضعها في مكانها الصحيح بعيداً عن التزلف، فيتفحص مواهبهم ويتساءل كيف تحولت إنتاجاتهم (البعض منهم) الى قيمة فنية خالصة ولكنه تظل أسئلة برسم إجابات لا تجيب...!!
في (أول الورد) يقول: "الكتابة الجيدة لدى البعض هي التي تلعق مرق الأحذية، وترتب طوابير الحلابيب على الاسفلت، ولدى البعض الآخر هي التي يعود بها تائه الى طريق الصواب، أو التي ينطلق بها فاتح الى فلسطين فيحررها بجملتين في سيناريو تفاوض! كل هذه الكتابات لا تناسبني، ولا أجد فيها نفسي ومزاجي.. لكن ثمة أدغالاً كتابية خرج منها العطر، وعلى أناملها وقعت زخات المطر الأولى، ولها أحصنة بيضاء وتجيد الرقص على رموش الهوى، وهناك أبحث عن ذاتي ومشروعي الآتي...".
