إن الحديث عن فلسفة ابن رشد قد ملأ الدنيا وشغل الناس إلى يومنا هذا، وسبب هذا الاهتمام يعود إلى ما تركه هذا الرجل من فلسفة وعلم كبيرين، والباحث توجه إلى درس أحد جوانب فلسفته ذات الصلة بالسياسة والإنسان، ألا وهي فلسفة التاريخ، فوجد في هذه الفلسفة الرشدية أصالة وإبداعاً لم يكشف عنهما درس أكاديمي أو بحث علمي رصين، ذلك أن التاريخ عندما يقرأ من الفيلسوف لا يقرأ كأنه حوادث وقعت في زمان ومكان معينين، بل إن الفيلسوف يبحث عما وراء هذه الحوادث، وعن العلل والأسباب الكامنة المحركة للتاريخ، وعن موقف ونظرة شمولية كلية ذات أبعاد منهجية محكمة، أن ما قام به الباحث فلسفياً في دراسته لفلسفة التاريخ عند ابن رشد إنما يشكل نقلة نوعية في البحث العلمي الأكاديمي الرصين، وذلك بالرجوع إلى أمهات المراجع والمصادر الرشدية وغيرها من المصادر الفلسفية في قراءتها للتاريخ.
