هذا الكاتب المبدع والمؤرخ المهجري الذي أعاد إلى الرواية التاريخية وهجها بعدما فقدته في عصر هو أشبه ما يكون بعصر الانحطاط. تجلى الإبداع عند حردان في روايته "هاني بعل" في أنه تمكن من إبراز هذا البطل التاريخي المنتصر على الآلام والمآسي والجراح الكثيرة، زوبعة على التجبر والطغيان من خلال تسجيله بالسرد القصصي المشوق ما رواه أستاذ هاني بعل المؤرخ اليوناني اللغة سوزبلو الذي أصبح في ما بعد ناموسة وصديقة الحميم ورفيقه الدائم، فمن خواطر بقيت في ذاكرة التاريخ بعدما أحرق الرومان مؤلفات سوزبلو عنه، تمكن الروائي من غربلتها بإسقاط ما يجب إسقاطه والإبقاء على إنجازات النابغة العظيم الذي حمل كل مواهب أمته في عقله ونفسه وقلبه وروحه، وأعطى العالم القدرة والمثال، حتى أتى مؤلفه هذا ذا قيمة عالية تفرض نفسها على المكتبات في هذا العصر.
