ناظم هذه الأناشيد الصوفية رجال يدهشك منه تعدد نزعاته واتجاهاته ونشاطاته، فهو في صميم السياسة اللبنانية والعربية على ما في تلك السياسة من تشويش والتواء وخبط عشواء. وهو مؤسس الحزب التقدمي الاشتراكي ورئيسه، ومحرر المقال الافتتاحي في الصحيفة الناطقة بلسانه، وهو فرق ذلك، الرجل المتصوف الذي يتعشق الحكمة ويستقيها من مصادرها الدرزية المباحة لـ"العقلاء" والمحجوبة عن الدهماء، مثلما يستقيها من "بواطن" المسيحية والإسلام، وبخاصة من "الفيدا" الهندية وما يتفرع عنها من ضروب "اليوجا" و"الفيدنتا-أدفيتا".
والمعروف عن كمال جنبلاط أنه، بروحه، يكاد يكون أوثق صلة بالهند منه بوطنه لبنان وغيره من الديار العربية. فقلما ينقضي عام لا يزور فيه الهند ولو مرة حيث يجتمع بواحد أو أكثر من حكمائها البارزين. ولكن من غير المعروف عنه أن يقرض الشعر. ولذلك جاءت أناشيده هذه شبه مفاجأة حتى للمقربين منه. أما لماذا اختار جنبلاط أن يعبر عن وجده وعن رؤاه بالشعر الموزون والمنثور على ما في ذلك التعبير من مشقة بالغة، فعلم ذلك عنده. ولعله رأى مثلما رأى بعض المتصوفة العرب وغير العرب أن الشعر بما فيه من عذوبة الإيقاع وشفافية الصورة هو الأليق بالنفس عندما تحدث عن معاناتها في التدرج من المحدود إلى المطلق، أو عندما تخاطب ذلك المطلق.
