إن جوهر الشعر عند وليد مسملي يتأسس على حب الخالق وحب المخلوقات بهذه الثنائية تبدو ترانيمه بما يشبه كيميائية الظاهرة الكونية بما هي تأكيد على اللحظة الشعورية والسعي إلى القبض على ابديتها، تلك اللحظة وحدسها المتقد في قلب شاعرنا تنعطف بالرؤية الشعرية إلى عدة مسارات لاهية، تجترح بعض من أشكال الحياة القائمة في مجتمع الشاعر وانشغالاته ومناسباته.
تحت عنوان (عرس نجدي) وهي قصيدة ألقاها الشاعر في إحدى المناسبات، يقول: "السعيدون/ في ظلام الليالي/ مسمليَون/ أشرقوا كاللآلي/ يتثنى شيح الرياض/ ويزهو بالخزامى على الأنان التعالي../ الخاطبون الهوى../ يعبَون كأساً عبقرياً/ من فاتنات الدوالي../ والترانيم قد ثملن../ وضجت في هواها اللحون: "هيا تعالي" (...)".
يضم الديوان قصائد متنوعة أنشدها الشاعر في مناسبات مختلفة جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "ومضة"، "مدرستي"، "لسان"، "جولة"، "بين يدي نائم"، "سر المحبة"، "شيخ النحو"، "عرس نجدي"، "فاتنتي"، "معالم"، "رسالة"، (...)الخ.
