نقرأ في شعرية وليد مسملي، غنائية نثرية تقوم على نفس سردي ملحمي / شخصي وعام معاً، وإحساس رفيع ومهذب بقيمة الموسيقى في النثر الفني المحض.
في ديوانه "أغاني صامتة" يكتب وليد مسملي في شعر المناسبات "وهذه المجموعة كتبت في مناسبات شتى وأوقات متفرقة لا يجمعها نسف ولا يؤلف بينها مشترك إلا نفس صاحبها المنسكبة فيها حرفاً بمعنى قطرة قطرة .. وكل الشعر مناسبات ...".
ولأن الشعر كلام كالنثر، غير أن الموسيقى – النغم المتمثل في الوزن والقافية – يصنع منه الشاعر ما هو فوق الكلام، فإن التجربة الشعرية هنا تأخذ الشاعر إلى آفاق وحدود غير معلنة، وغير مقيدة، فيبحر بالشعر إلى حيث لا يدري، ويكتب في الحاضر والماضي، وهذا الإشتغال الفني الفريد يترافق مع الإعتناء بالصور والمحمولات الدلالية التي على ما يبدو أن الشاعر أسس بها القيمة الراهنية للنص.
في قصيدة بعنوان "بلسم" (حين ايقظتني إبنتي من نومتي بقبلة): يقول الشاعر: "طبعت .. / فوق جبيني قبلة / بأبي طلعة ذاك / المبسمِ / كان ظني الحب .. / معنى مبهماً / كيف يغدو / نعمة بين الغمِ ؟! / لم أكن إلا أمرأً ، هام به ضعفك الجبار .. / والقلب عمي / يا رؤى .. / أحلم أني وجهها / قبليني .. / يرتو القلب الظمي / لم تكن .. / فوق جبيني قبلة .. / إنما في القل / مثل البلسمِ !!".
يضم الكتاب عشرين قصيدة قالها الشاعر في مناسبات وطنية ودينية وإجتماعية مختلفة نذكر من عناوينها: "يا سيدي" ، "خسوف" ، "أسئلة في فؤاد يتيم" ، "ما ذنبها؟ " ، "هالة المعالي" ، "طلعة كحلى" ، "عناوين" ، "ذكرى" ، "حسبي من حقولكِ وردة" (...) وقصائد أخرى.
