في روايته "من عكا وإليها" يغطي عبد اللطيف كنفاني قرابة الثلاثون عاماً من عمر الحكاية الفلسطينية، فتنهض الوقائع المروية، المتذكرة والمتخيلة، بين عامي 1948 و1982م، لتقول مأساة امرأة فلسطينية من عكا في فصولها المتعاقبة بين الإحتلال والرحيل، وهي فصول تدور على مسرحين اثنين هما مدينة عكا الساحلية في (فلسطين) ومخيم عين الحلوة في صيدا (لبنان).
وفي هذه الرواية يروي كنفاني بصيغة المتكلم حكاية "مريم" إثر دخولها وعائلتها إلى لبنان "لاجئين" ويردي معها حكاية الإنسان الفلسطيني في نزوحه وتشرده وانكساره فمريم "لم يكن ليدور في خلدها ولا حتى في الأحلام أن ينتهي بها الأمر يوماً إلى تلقي أي عطاء خيري وهي التي كانت مربى دلال ترفل فيه بالرفاة ورعد العيش" لينتهي بها الأمر ووالدتها العاجزة في مخيمات اللجوء، بعد أن كانت تأتي إلى لبنان مع أهلها في رحلات اصطياف. ولكن، يبقى في الحياة فسحة من أمل، إذ تكون لمريم حكاية جديدة في لبنان وزواج وأولاد، ولعل كنفاني بإقدامه على جمع حكايات النزوح بحكايات المستقبل، هو محاولة لإنقاذ الذاكرة من الموت وصوغ تاريخ حي للإنسان الفلسطيني داخل وخارج الأرض. أليس الأدب تاريخاً فنياً؟
