"عكا عبر التاريخ" هو جهد علمي توثيقي وطني للكاتب والمربَي مروان الماضي يوثق من خلاله تاريخ مدينة عكا وجغرافيتها وعاداتها وتراثها وأعلامها على مرَ التاريخ الفلسطيني، فلعكَا في الذاكرة الفلسطينية والإنسانية مكانة مرموقة، منذ أن كانت نافذة الشرق على الغرب، وعروس الساحل الشامي، وميناء بلاد الشام النابض بحركة الرحَالة والتجَار والتجارة والصيادين والفاتحين، ومنها انطلق المسلمون يفتحون جزر البحر الأبيض المتوسط وصولاً إلى الأندلس. لذلك، فإن الكتابة عن عكا وعن غيرها من المدن الفلسطينية، تنعش ذاكرة الأجيال الحالية وتعرفهم على تاريخهم ومدنهم وقراهم وهو ما انبرى إلى تقديمه مؤلف هذا الكتاب في كتابه هذا وخاصة أن الأوضاع الحالية وفي ظل الهجمة الصهونية التي تحاول تشويه التاريخ الفلسطيني في أذهان الأجيال الجديدة فكان لا بد من مجابهة تلك المخططات بكتاب يحيي ذلك الماضي المجيد لواحدة من أهم المدن الفلسطينية التي دمرَها العدو ورفد الكتاب وإغناؤه بما يلزم من معلومات وصور ووثائق وحقائق ليكون هذا الكتاب كما أراده مؤلفه عوناً وشوقاً لأنباء هذه المدينة والآخرين.
يتألف الكتاب من سبعة فصول جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: الفصل الأول: الإسم والإطار الجغرافي، الفصل الثاني: عكا عبر التاريخ، الفصل الثالث: الإنتداب البريطاني، والغزو الصهيوني، الفصل الرابع: الحياة الثقافية والإجتماعية، الفصل السادس: المعالم التاريخية والسياحية الأثرية، والفصل السابع: الناحية الإدارية.
