تتحدث الدكتورة رفيعة عبيد غباش والدكتورة مريم سلطان لوتاه في هذا الكتاب عن تاريخ الطب في الإمارات العربية المتحدة، وذلك من خلال دراسة تناولت تطور سيرة الخدمات الصحية منذ عام 1900 الذي تعرضت من خلاله وبالتحديد الدكتورة مريم في الفصل الأول من هذا الكتاب للطب العربي.
بالإضافة إلى ذلك فقد أفردت فصلاً متعلقاً بالوثائق البريطانية نظراً لارتباط المادة الوثائقية التي استيقت منها مادة هذا الفصل ببعض الأحداث السياسية على مستوى المنطقة الأمر الذي تطلب رؤية وتحليلاً تاريخياً خاصاً بهذه الأحداث.
والذي حمل على التدوين لتاريخ الطب في الإمارات منذ عام 1900 بالنسبة للدكتورة رفيعة عبيد غباش هو كون ذلك التاريخ يعكس الدلالات السياسية والدينية وموقف الناس من الحملات التبشيرية، وصلابة وقوة قناعاتهم الفكرية والعقائدية التي حالت دون تأثرهم بتلك الحملات وإن كانت مصدر علاج بالإضافة إلى كون هذا التأريخ لم يدون.
