أسهم التناص منذ ظهوره، وتحديد ماهيته ومصطلحاته في كشف النقاب عن رؤية شعرية أو نقدية جديدة، تطرح مقولة السرقة الأدبية وما يقترن بها عادة من "إثم أخلاقي" بعيداً عن مجال الأدب بل قرر منظوره ان كل نص أدبي يعدّ شبكة من الإشارات والإقتباسات، لأن الشاعر لا يبدع من فراغ، بل يبدع في وعيه أو لاوعيه تراث إنساني ضخم، يتفاعل معه، ويعيد إنتاجه، وفق رؤيا تعبّر عن الواقع.
وإذا كان النص الشعري بناء لغوياً، تشير فيه الدوال إلى دوال أخرى، كما أنه محكوم بالتوالد مع نصوص سابقة، ينفتح الشاعر من خلالها على الذاكرة البشرية... إلخ، فإن هذا قد جعل منهج الكتاب يسير في الجاهلين: الأول، يعني برصد نوع التناص وتحديده بالإعتماد على معيِّنات لغوية او دلالية أو سياقية، ويهتم الإتجاه الثاني بالنظر إلى التناص بوصفه نسقاً غير منعزل عن الأنساق الأخرى، ومن ثم تحليل النص الشعري بإعتباره نسيجاً لغوياً، يجلو التجربة الشعرية في أبعادها المتعددة، وينتج الدلالات الكامنة تحت سطح اللغة والأسلوب والصورة إلخ، التي استقى منها النص الشعري مصدره ووجوده، وتبدَّت من خلالها عناصره الداخلية وتفاعلاته الإبداعية؛ وبهذا لم يقتصر التحليل النقدي على إشارات النصوص المتداخلة فحسب، بل تجاوز ذلك إلى إشارات النص وأنساقة المتعددة.
