إن من نعم الله التي لا تعد ولا تحصى على البشرية أن أرسل إليها بخاتم الأنبياء والمرسلين، الرسول الذي خلت من قبله الرسل محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم ومعاه خاتم الأديان وهو الإسلام. ويعتبر القرآن واحدة من مفردات هذه النعمة العظيمة-الرسول والرسالة. فكان جامعاً واصلاً لكل ما يحتاجه البشر من هدى وكل علم، فمنه يتزود بالفقه والطب والرياضيات والفلك وغير ذلك الكثير. وقبل رحيله صلى الله عليه وسلم لم يشأ أن يترك الأمة بدون أن يرشدها إلى من يأخذ بيدها للسير على صراط الله المستقيم، فعرّف الأم بعترته الطاهرة عليهم السلام وخصهم بأحاديث كثيرة، ثم وقوف مؤلف هذا الكتاب على المئات منها والتي وردت في أمهات كتب مختلف الفرق والمذاهب الإسلامية بدون استثناء.
ومن بين تلك الأحاديث يبرز حديث الثقلين وفيه قرن الرسول الأكرم عترته الطاهرة أئمة الهدى بالقرآن الكريم، وأنهما لن يفترقا حتى يردا عليه الحوض فقال: (إني مخلف فيكم الثقلين ما إن تمسكتم بها لن تضلوا كتاب الله وعترتي أهل بيتي وأنهما لن يفترقا حتى يروا علي الحوض) فكانوا بحق القرآن الناطق والثقل الصادق، وكانت حياتهم حافلة بازدهار مختلف العلوم، من بينها: علم الطب الذي اهتموا به اهتماماً واضحاً، وكان جزءاً من واجباتهم تجاه الأمة؛ إذ وردت عنهم عليهم السلام أحاديث غزيرة حول مختلف النباتات والأعشاب والثمار ودورها في معالجة الأمراض.
وفي هذا الكتاب يودر المؤلف بعضاً منها وليس كلها. ولا بد من الإشارة إلى أنه تم ترتيب المواضيع الواردة في الكتاب وفق التسلسل الأبجدي للحروف، وإلى أن المؤلف لم يهدف بإضافته المادة العلمية الحديثة، لم يهدف من وراء ذلك تدعيم الآيات القرآنية أو الحديث الصادر عن المعصوم عليه السلام بالاكتشاف العلمي الحديث، وكما يؤكد دائماً، بأن العكس عنده هو الصحيح.
