مسرحية الحلاج، دراما شعرية في أربعة فصول، من تأليف الشاعر المسرحي الكبير عدنان مردم بك، تُبرز الدور الكبير لرجل الفكر المناضل في سبيل الوصول إلى هدفه ومحجّته. وهي مسرحية نضالية مأساوية فيها طابع الشموخ والتحدي الشرس، إذ تضع الحلاج قمة الفكر، واجهة للتصدّي في مواجهة السلطان الظالم وكلابه المفترسات "يطيل التأمل والتفكير، في واقع الأمة الإسلامية، فيرى انحرافها عن رسالتها، وابتعادها عن عبادتها، فيطلق صيحة الثورة على الخلافة المنحرفة، وينشر الدعوة، ويعدُّ العدة، لإقامة حكومة الأقطاب الروحانيين.
إنها مسرحية تقذف حملة المبادئ والمثل دفعة واحدة بين أنياب السلطة الغاشمة التي تلوك كل قيم الخير، وتمزق كل أمل بالحياة، وتسحق كرامة الإنسان، وتطحن كل ما يعترض مطامع عروشها، ونزوات سلاطينها، وهذا هو ما واجه الحسين الحلاج بطلها، بطل ملحمة الخلود، ورائد الحب الإلهي، الذي صعِد على معارج الشوق الوجد، إلى سدرة النور السنيّ.
لقد انطلق الخيال الأسطوري التاريخي، يوشّي هذه الملحمة العجيبة بأزهى الألوان، ويريق عليها مزيداً من الجمال والروعة ويسكب عليها كثيراً من الغموض والرهبة، وراح ينسج حولها مشاهد ملونة متنافرة، تتعاقب وتتواكب، حافلة بأروع ما في الدنيا من عظمة الروح والإيمان حيناً، وبأقسى ما في قاموس الضلال، من إلحاد ومروق أحياناً.
إنها مسرحية تفضح الجانب السياسي الذي صُلب بسببه الحلاج، هذا الجانب الذي حاولت أسنان الخلافة والسلطان تمزيقه وتشويهه وطمس حقيقته، ولكن أنّى لها ذلك، فقد شهدت الفلوات والآفاق لُمُعاً من حياة رجل تُذيبه الأشواق، ويحرقه الوجد في بحثه عن الحقيقة الصمدية التي يسحق الناس باسمها، وتُرتكب الكبائر في ظلالها، وهي المنزّهة عن كل ذلك. فينطلق الحلاج مذهولاً مأخوذاً، عله يتذوق عبر نشوة تطوافه، ورياضاته، مقاماً من مقامات القرب.
