نقرأ في هذا الكتاب يوميات سطرها "محمود شريح" بين ربيع 2002 وصيف 2004 في بيروت، وهي يوميات صدرت سابقا في جريدة النهار البيروتية، وألحقها الكاتب بأربع يتضمنها هذا الكتاب. وعن يومياته يقول "محمود شريح" "... ويوميات مهاجر ومقيم هذه تتمة بكتابي يوميات مهاجر (...) كنت دونتها وأنا في المهجر أو على سفر ونقحها الشاعر الأستاذ شوقي أبي شقرا واختار عنوانها..."
ومن يوميات "شريح" نقتطف بعضاً من شذراته:
"كانوا يقولون لي وأنا في كشاف فلسطين: "وما النصر إلا ساعة صبر"، وكان ذلك منذ ستة وثلاثين عاما! " 6/8/2002.
"مدربون على الدجل والنصب والإحتيال فكأنهم خرجوا إليك من دفتي "ألف ليلة وليلة"، منقحة ومزيدة، تجليد فني وفاخر" 23/8/2002.
مفهوم "البساطة" غير موجود في قاموسنا الإجتماعي، وأشك إن كانت المفردة مدرجة في "لسان العرب" لكن علي التأكد" 4/9/2002.
قالوا عن يوميات محمود شريح: "يوميات مهاجر كتاب ليس كالكتب، يطيب لصاحبه أن يجعل من المنفى، والأصح الإكثار من التنقل، وطناً يرسمه على جغرافية الورقة (...)" حاكم مردان.
