إن الحسم العسكري الذي كان متعارفاً عليه في عصر البعثة النبوية وعصر الصحابة والتابعين في الحروب، كان بثلاثة شروط إما الدخول في الإسلام، أو بدفع الجزية للمسلمين، أو القتال. إذ أن آيتا السيف والقتال في القرآن الكريم، حسمتا الأمر، ولم نسمع أو نقرأ في تاريخنا إسلامي الماضي، أن هناك شرطاً رابعاً وهو أن تتوقف الحرب ويتعايش المسلمين مع عدوهم بتشكيل حكومة مختلطة الأديان (فدرالية)، يتقاسمون الحقائب الوزارية لأن هذا الشرط الرابع مرفوض شرعاً، وكذلك كل شرط يشابهه فيه إهانة وذل للمسلمين، ولقد عالجت في هذا الكتاب كيف كانت تسير الفتوح في القرون الثلاثة الأولى المفضلة، وكيفية الإعداد لها قبل خوضها، من تهيئة إيمانية وطلب العون من الله وحده، وأثناء سير الفتوح وما يتطلب من طرق حربية، وأساليب القتال لبعض قواد الفتح الإسلامي، وبعد الانتهاء من هذه الفتوح بمعالجة مواضيع الغنائم والعطاءات والأسرى وغيرها.
