يهدف هذا الكتاب إلى عرض الأسس لمادة الإقتصاد الكلي، وقد راعينا معالجة المواضيع وتوضيحها دون تكرار أو إسهاب زائد، ولم ندّخر جهداً من أجل تبسيط المادة العلمية التي يحويها الكتاب، لأننا نرى أهمية إيصال القدر المعين من المعلومات بأبسط الطرق المنطقية، علماً أن الكتاب معد خصيصاً للدارس الذي سبق له دراسة القواعد الأولية لعلم الإقتصاد.
وبما أن الكتاب يهتم بدراسة الإقتصاد الكلي، لذلك سنهتم بتحليل النشاط الإقتصادي على المستوى الكلي، وسنعمل إلى عرض المفاهيم العامة للدخل وتوازنه، ونظريات الإستهلاك والإستثمار، وعرض النقود والطلب عليها، ثم نتعرض إلى التوازن الكلي بإستخدام منحنيات IS-LM ودور السياسات المالية والنقدية في تحقيق التوازن.
والإستقرار الإقتصادي، هذا إضافة إلى مناقشة التضخم كمشكلة إقتصادية وإلى البطالة ومفاهيمها، وكذلك الأمر إلى النمو الإقتصادي والتقلبات الإقتصادية.
