تسعى المحاضرات التي يضمها هذا الكتاب لتعريف الطالب بطيعة النقود ووظائفها ثم دراسة النظم النقدية، نظام الذهب وتغيّر النظام النقدي من خلال تطوره التاريخي، وتبين القواعد والترتيبات التي حددت الإطار الذي تخلق في ظله النقود المعدنية والورقية، ومنها يتم الانتقال إلى موضوع غموض النقود (تعريف الكتلة النقدية بمفاهيمها المختلفة وتعريف القاعدة النقدية وعلاقتها بميزان المدفوعات، بعد ذلك تمّ التوقف بشكل مركز عند مسألة النقود المصرفية التي تزايدت أهميتها في العصر الحاضر)، دراسة آلية التوسع النقدي من خلال مضاعف النقود بمفهومية الضيق والواسع، ومع دراسة الطلب على النقود ينتهي القسم الأول في هذا المقرر والمتعلق بالنقود. أما القسم الثاني فسعى لشرح سياسة البنوك التجارية والتعرض لمشاكل الأربحية (السيولة) عن طريق تقديم عرض تحليلي عام لمواردها واستخدامها. وتعرض أيضاً لمسألة إدارة النقود وتوجيهها من خلال منافسة نظام البنوك المركزية، مع شرح للمفاهيم الأساسية لوظائفها الرئيسية والقيود التي ترد على فاعليتها...
