الحرية هي الوشيجة التي تشبك هذه النصوص المتناثرة التي كتبت في أزمنة مختلفة. ولفلسطين حبة القلب في هذا الكتاب، حتى في العنوان. إنها، على ما رأى، هواجس فلسطيني طوحت به الأيام وأخرجته صغيراً من سمحاتا في فلسطين إلى مخيمات لبنان، ثم إلى حديقة الخير والأمان في أبو ظبي.
غير أن وليد قدورة، الذي ما برح مشتبكاً مع التاريخ العربي المعاصر والذي أراد أن يعيد اكتشاف الطريق ثانية من لبنان إلى سمحاتا اكتشف أن السياسة والرئاسة أخلقتا وعدهما في فلسطين. وهكذا راحت سمحاتا تتناءى كثيراً وراء الحدود التي طالما حجبت لواء عكا وهضابه القمحية وتلاله الخضر... وحجارته السود.
وليد قدورة في هذه النصوص فلسطيني لكن ليس بروح مدرعة، بل بروح إنسانية غامرة. ولأنه امتلك هذه الروح، خلافاً للعديد من أقرانه الكتاب الذين غار هذا الألق في كتاباتهم جراء ما تفعله الهمجية الصهيونية يومياً بالفلسطينيين، فقد عرف لذة الامتنان ومعنى الوفاء، فهو يوشح كتابه بكلمة للشيخ زايد بن سلطان "زايد القائد والملاذ"، ويبوح بحبه لمدينة أبو ظبي من خلال "كاسر الموج" الذي أتاح له تنشق نسمات البحر في الصباح ونسائم الحرية عند ذلك الشاطئ الفيروزي الجميل.
إنه حقاً "عالك صغير جداً". وهذا الشاب الفلسطيني الذي كان يحلم بالعودة إلى فلسطين جنوباً ولا يستطيع أن يصل إلى أبعد مخيم في لبنان شمالاً، ها هي خطواته المترددة تقوده إلى كوبا والولايات المتحدة الأميركية غرباً، وإلى فرانكفورت شمالاً، ثم إلى بقاع الأرض شرقاً وجنوباً. وهذا الكتاب هو، حقاً، عن عالمنا المعاصر الذي هو، بالفعل، عالم صغير جداً. إنه جولة في تفصيلات العيش في هذا الكون الرحب: من الاستهلاك والتلوث والغابات المطيرة والهنود الحمر وازدحام المدن واغتراب الروح، عن الحروب الصغيرة والكبيرة، عن العصافير والشعراء وعن فلسطين والعراق وعن السجن ومخيم شاتيلا، وعن مروان البرغوثي وراشيل كوري وجورج حاوي وسمير قصير، وعن بيروت وحنينه إلى هذه المدينة التي كانت، في يوم من الأيام، متألقة ومتوثبة وذات بهاء وتمنع ودلال.
