نهج الشيخ القاوقجي في كتابه اللؤلؤ المرصوع هذا، نهج الذين سبقوه في إيراد الأحاديث الموضوعة، مع إعطاء الحكم عليها باختصار تسهيلاً للقارئ. وقد رتب أحاديثه على حروف المعجم، بالنسبة للحرف الأول فقط، أما الثاني والثالث.. فقد أخل به كثيراً، فلم يتعهد ترتيبها.
وكذلك كانت خطته الاقتصار على الحديث الموضوع فقط، دون أن يذكر معه الضعيف أو الحسن أو الصحيح-شأن الكتب المؤلفة في الأحاديث المشتهرة من ضعيفه أو موضوعه أو حسنة وصحيحة.
وبالنظر لمكانة هذا الكتاب فقد اعتنى المحقق بتحقيقه حيث ضم أولاً: صحيح النص بالرجوع إلى المصادر التي استقى منها القاوقجي كتابه. ولقد اعتمد في تحقيق هذا الكتاب على المطبوعة قديماً على نفقة الوجيه الحاج عبد الله العطار. ثانياً: رقم أحاديثه، ولم يتعرض لترتيبها على الأصل الذي كان عليه، بل أبقي كل حديث في مكانه الذي كان عليه. ثالثاً: قام بعزو الأحاديث إلى مصادرها من كتب الموضوعات، والحديث -إن وجد فيها-. رابعاً: علق على بعض المواضع مما استدركت على المؤلف إدراجه لبعض الأحاديث في الموضوع، أو توضيح مشكل، أو اصطلاح. خامساً: قدم للكتاب، وترجم للمؤلف ترجمة موجزة توضح أهم معالم حياته. سادساً: وضع للكتاب فهرسة لأحاديثه، وآياته...
