إن مما مَنَّ الله سبحانه وتعالى به على هذه الأمة المحمدية التيسير عليها ورفع الحرج عنها، وللمريض من هذه المنّة نصيب وافر يظهرون تتبع آيات القرآن وأحاديث رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم. وقد عمل الشيخ أبو بكر بن إسماعيل بن محمد في هذا الكتاب على إبراز هذه المسائل من خلال النصوص المتضمنة لأحكام المريض في الفقه الإسلامي إن في العبادات أو في الأحوال الشخصية، حيث تتبع كتب التفسير وأحكام القرآن لما يتعلق بالآيات، وشرح الأحاديث لما يتعلق بالأحاديث، وتتبع الكتب المصنفة في الآثار لما له صلة بالموضوع من الآثار وكتب الفقه على مذاهب الأئمة الأربعة لإيضاح ما فيها عن هذا الموضوع واستخراج ما يتطلبه هذا البحث عن المراجع. ثم بحث في الأحوال الشخصية بالنسبة للمريض فأتى فيها بما يؤخذ منه التيسير على المريض ورفع الحرج عنه من ناحية وعدم السماح للمريض بالتصرفات التي يتضرر بها ورثته بعد وفاته من ناحية أخرى.
