التزمت في التأليف بيان المذاهب الفقهية المختلفة مع المقارنة بينها متخذاً المذهب الحنفي أساساً للمقارنة، ولم أضن على غيره من المذاهب بالبيان الذي يقتضيه المقام وأدليت برأيي في كل ما وجدت لي رأياً فيه، وبذلت عناية خاصة بأحكام القضاء في الإقليم الجنوبي من الجمهورية العربية المتحدة، وهي مؤسسة على راجح مذهب أبي حنيفة، وتعرضت لبعض التقنيات الهامة في الأحوال الشخصية، فأوردت نصوص مدونة الأحوال الشخصية المطبقة في المغرب، فيما بحثته في هذا الكتاب، وهي مؤسسة على مذهب الإمام مالك، المطبق في تلك البلاد، كما أوردت نصوص قانون الأحوال الشخصية السوري فيما تعرضت له، وذلك لما لهذا القانون من أهمية بالغة بالنسبة لنا، فهو لا يزال مطبقاً حتى الآن في الإقليم الشمالي من الجمهورية العربية المتحدة، وهو يتفق في كثير من النواحي مع ما عليه العمل في الإقليم الجنوبي، وفضلاً عن ذلك فإن اللجنة التي وضعت مشروع قانون الأحوال الشخصية الموحد لتطبق بعد صدوره في الجمهورية العربية بإقليميها، قد استعانت به في كثير من المواضع، حتى يمكن القول بأنه يعتبر من أهم الأسس التي قام عليها هذا المشروع، وبعد ذلك أوردت مواد مشروع قانون الأحوال الشخصية الموحد.
وقد قسمت الكتاب إلى اربعة أبواب، الباب الأول لثبوت النسب، والثاني للرضاع كحق للولد، والثالث للحضانة، والرابع لنفقة الأقارب
