وفي هذا الكتاب يتناول المؤلف وهو الدكتور "سليمان عبد المنعم" أصول علم الإجرام القانوني -على تنوع موضوعاته- وذلك في أبواب ثلاثة. الأول: خصصه لدراسة إشكاليات تأصيل علم الإجرام. وفي هذا الباب تعرض لذاتية الموضوع وذاتية المنهج في علم الإجرام، وهو ما يتيح لتحديد موضوع الدراسة (الجريمة والمجرم) والوقوف على طبيعة علم الإجرام وطرق البحث المتبعة في دراساته. أما الباب الثاني فخصصه للتحليل الوصفي لظاهرة الجريمة. وفي ثنايا هذا الباب عرض لأهم مذاهب ومدارس تحليل السلوك الإجرامي. وفي الباب الثالث والأخير عرض للتحليل التفسيري لعوامل الإجرام بهدف الكشف عن مختلف الظروف الفردية والاجتماعية وغيرها ذات الصلة بالسلوك الإجرامي للوقوف -إن أمكن- على مدى اعتبارها "عوامل دافعة للجريمة".
