ما زالت العولمة تطرح أسئلتها وتحدياتها بحدّة على العالم، وبالتحديد على المجتمعات والدول التي ليست في عداد قواها، والتي تجد نفسها ضعيفة الممانعة لأحكامها القهرية، مثل مجتمعات ودول الجنوب ومنها الوطن العربي. فالثابت حتى الآن أن العولمة تكرس انتصار المجتمعات الرأسمالية المتروبولية المتقدمة، في المنافسة الاقتصادية والعلمية والتقانية العالمية، وتفتح أمامها مجدداً فرصاً أوفر لمزيد من إحراز النجاحات على صعيد تعظيم الثروة والتفوق واحتكارهما. هذه النجاحات على صعيد تعظيم الثورة والتفوق واحتكارهما. هذه النجاحات لا تتم هذه المرة بواسطة الجيوش والسلاح العسكري فقط، وإنما بواسطة الاقتصاد والمال والتقانة والإعلام.
يحتوي هذا الكتاب على مجموعة من الأبحاث والدراسات تركزت كلها على موضوع العولمة، لكن من جوانب مختلفة، وقد حاولت أن تتابع هذه التطور في مراحله الجديدة وأوجه ظهوره وسيطرته وامتداداته.
الدراسات المنشورة في هذا الكتاب توزعت عبر ثلاثة فصول: الأول؛ يهتم بالمفهوم والآليات والحركة. الثاني؛ يتضمن دراسات ناقشت العولمة وما تطرحه من تحديات على الوطن العربي. الثالث؛ يحتوي على دراسات تناقش وتبين أثر العولمة في وسائل الإعلام والثقافة بشكل عام.
والدراسات المنشورة تحمل الكثير من الأفكار، إذ إن القارئ سيجد في كل دراسة من الدراسات جواباً عن سؤال عن العولمة من جانب من الجوانب. لكن، هذا لا يعني أن الأجوبة قد اكتملت، وبخاصة إذا ما كانت الظاهرة في طور التوسع والانتشار.
