يتضمن هذا الكتاب سلسلة البحوث التي ألقاها محمد الحسيني البهشتي بين الأعوام (1970-1976) في مجالس تفسير القرآن التي كانت تعقد مساء كل أحد تحت عنوان "مدرسة القرآن" وخلال هذه المجالس بادر الدكتور بهشتي إلى تفسير الآيات (102-110) من سورة آل عمران، متطرقاً إلى أحد المباحث الأساسية التي طواها النسيان، ألا وهو الأمر بالمعروف والمنكر والمراحل التي وضعها الدكتور بهشتي لمعرفة المعروف والمنكر، ومما يلاحظ أيضاً فيه أنه مملوء بالأفكار الأصولية الشاملة التي تحاول البحث عن أجوبة للأسئلة التي يطرحها العصر حول الدين.
