يحتوي هذا الكتاب الذي بين يدي القارئ على أربعة محاضرات ألقاها الدكتور محمد الحسيني البهشتي خلال جلسات للاتحاد الإسلامي للأطباء تحت عنوان الصحة وتنظيم الأسرة من وجهة نظر الإسلام. وفيها يتعرض المحاضر إلى موضوع الإجهاض, مبيناً حكم الإجهاض والتعقيم في الشريعة الإسلامية, ومؤكداً على أن الجنين لا يعدّ إنساناً كاملاً قبل أن يتم الشهور الأربعة, وبالتالي فان الإجهاض في هذه الفترة لا يعد قتلاً للنفس, ودليله على ذلك ما ورد من روايات في باب الديات حيث لا تعتبر الجنين إنساناً قبل نفح الروح فيه ولا ترصد له دية كاملة. ومن النقاط الظريفة والجديرة بالمطالعة في الكتاب المناقشات والانتقادات الموجهة من قبل علماء كالأستاذ آية الله مرتضى مطهري والعلامة محمد تقي جعفري والدكتور كاظم سامي مما أغنى الكتاب وزاده قيمة فوق قيمة.
