يتحدث عبد الرحيم آل شلبي في كتابه "حكاية الحكايات عن المآسي الطبقية التي يعيشها أفراد المجتمع الواحد، مشخصاً عبر أبطال مسرحيته الظلم والفقر الذي تعيشه الطبقات المسحوقة من جهة، والبطر والفسق والانحلال والضياع الذي تعيشه طبقات أخرى غنية في مملكة تحكمها النزوات والأطماع، لهذه المسرحية أبطال فقراء مغمورين عاشوا زمن قوة وجبروت العظام، وما تفوهوا بكلمة واحدة. وإنما كانوا تماثيل من حجر صم، بكم، عمي، إنهم مرغمون على السكوت، ولكن لا بد لحروب الطبقات أن تزول، ولا بد لكلمة الضعيف أن تعلوا لتحطم قيود الظلم والفوارق الاجتماعية.
