تمثل الحكاية الخرافية أحد أشكال التعبير الأكثر بروزاً في الثقافة الموروثة لمجتمع بلاد المغرب. وقد أشارت مختلف الدراسات الاثنوجرافية والأناسية والسوسيوثقافية منذ ابن خلدون إلى ثراء المادة الخرافية التي يتداولها أفراد الجماعات الناطقة باللهجات الأمازيغية، وغنى المواد الشفوية الملحمية المتداولة بين الجماعات الناطقة بالعربية الدارجة. وقد سمح التشكل الاجتماعي الجديد للبلاد المغاربية في العهد العربي الإسلامي بانصهار عناصر الثقافة الشفوية الأمازيغية، بمثيلتها العربية، وخاصة منها ما حمله بنو هلال وبنو سليم، فحدث مرور للأشكال الثقافية بين اللهجات العربية واللهجات الأمازيغية، وتهجين لمكوناتها، مما أثرى الثقافة الشعبية المغاربية وطبعها بميسم خاص.
تحاول هذه الدراسة أن تستكشف دلالة خمس حكايات خرافية مغاربية عن طريق تحليل شكلها وبيان مسار انبثاق معناها، وقد عملت على أن تلتزم بمنهجية مستمدة من منجزات الدراسات السردية الحديثة المرتكزة على البحوث الشكلانية والبنوية الأناسية، مراعية خصوصية المادة موضوع الدراسة، وكاشفة عن علاقتها بالمحيط الثقافي الذي أنتجها.
