ويكاد اللون النبطي من الشعر الشعبي يفوق في انتشاره كل الأشكال الشعبية الأخرى المكتوبة بالعامية من أزجال وقصائد وزوامل، وليس في ذلك ما يبرر القلق الذي يبديه البعض من انتصار العامية، فهو من وجهة نظري الخاصة رافد للفصحى وسبب من أسباب انتشارها في الأوساط الشعبية ولا يهددها، بل يمدها بمزيد من المفردات المعاشة، ويربط العربي غير المتعلم بلغته العربية ولو في حدها الأدنى، لأنه غير بعيد بمفرداته عن اللغة المستخدمة في الحياة اليومية. وديوان (مر الاغتراب) الذي بين يدي القارئ للشاعر صالح محمد اليافعي دليل على ما نذهب إليه فقصائده مكتوبة بلغة العربية لا ينقصها سوى الإعراب، بعد أن خضعت لإنحراف اللهجة والخروج عن قواعد النحو والتصريف شان كل الشعر المكتوب بالعامية العربية، وهنا مثال تم اختياره عشوائياً للتأكيد على العلاقة الوثيقة بين شعرنا العامي واللغة الفصحى.
