يحتوي الكتاب على عشرة فصول متكاملة تشكل المادة الأساسية لعلم الاجتماع الصناعي، فالفصل الأول يدرس الاجتماع الصناعي – نشأته وتطوره، والفصل الثاني يتناول تاريخ التطور الصناعي ابتداء من نظام الطوائف الحرفية ومروراً بنظام الوسطاء وانتهاءً بنظام المصنع، أما الفصل الثالث فيدور حول الدراسة الاجتماعية للمصنع، والفصل الرابع من الكتاب يتعلق بالنظم الصناعية والبيروقراطية، أما الفصل الخامس فيعالج موضوع النقابات العمالية، والفصل الثامن يتعلق بدراسة نماذج تطبيقية لتجارب التصنيع في البلدان النامية، ويتناول الفصل السادس مشكلات العمل الصناعي التي يمكن تقسيمها إلى أربع مشكلات هي الاقتصادية والنفسية والأسرية و مشكلات العمل والفراغ، في حين يهتم الفصل السابع بدراسة أثر التصنيع في المجتمع المحلي والعائلة والمرأة، والفصل الثامن يتعلق بدراسة نماذج تطبيقية لتجارب التصنيع في البلدان النامية، أما الفصل التاسع فيهتم بتجربة التصنيع في العراق، ويتناول الفصل العاشر والأخير دراسة تجربة التصنيع في اليابان ويتناول بالبحث والتحليل دور العوامل الاقتصادية والاجتماعية في تصنيع اليابان وتوطين وتنمية التكنولوجيا.
