إن جدل اللفظ والمعنى في العربية وما يكتنف استعمال اللغة من متغيرات موقفي الخطاب، وتنوع السياق ، ودورة الزمان، قد أفضى بها إلى ظاهر من الترادف والمشترك اللفظي والأضداد تحتاج إلى تجلية وتفسير، وهو الدور الذي قام به هذا الكتاب الذي اشتمل على معالجة بعض الظواهر الدلالية في العربية، كالترادف والمشترك والأضداد، كما عالج التطور الدلالي في العربية وأوضح موقف اللغويين القدامى منه، ثم عرج على ظاهرة"التفاصل" وهي ظاهرة ه=عامة تتجلى في جميع المستويات اللغوية، الصوتية والصرفية والنحوية والدلالية والأسلوبية، معتمداً على أمثلة مقصودة ومرصودة.
