وقدم المؤلف رأياً في بعض أنماط التركيب الجملة في اللغة العربية على ضوء علم اللغة المعاصر، ورأياً آخر في بناء الجملة الإسمية وقضاياها، إضافة إلى التوقف عند المعنى في ظاهرة تعدد وجوه الإعراب، كما تطرق إلى إعراب المعنى ومعنى الإعراب في نماذج من القرآن الكريم، والنظرية التوليدية التحويلية وأصولها في النحو العربي، وعرج على حلقة الوصل بين الألسنية الحديثة والنحو العربي.
وتناول هذا الكتاب أيضاً البنية التحتية بين عبد القاهر الجرجاني وتشومسكي، والللغة بين الانسان والفكر،وكذلك موضوع نحو الجملة والترابط النصي إضافة إلى تحليل لغة الشعر وذلك من خلال وقفة مع صلوات في هيكل الحب للشابي.
وختم المؤلف كتابه بالحديث عن التطور اللغوي المعاصر بين التقعيد والاستعمال، وعن الاعداد الثقافي لمعلم اللغة العربية للناطقين بغيرها.
