يعدّ هذا الكتاب مدخلاً إلى علم بناء النماذج القياسية من خلال تعريف القارئ بعلم القياس الاقتصادي ومجالات تطبيقه، والتطرق بشكل مفصل إلى طرق تقدير معالم النموذج الخطي العام، كما تمت دراسة ومعالجة مشاكل النموذج الخطي العام المتمثلة بمشكلة عدم تجانس تبيان الخطأ ومشكلة الارتباط الذاتي ، ومشكلة التعدد الخطي،إضافة إلى عقد مقارنة بين طريقة المربعات الصغرى الاعتيادية وطرق التقدير المطروحة لمعالجة وجود مثل هذه المشاكل،بهدف قياس الكفاءة النسبية للمعالم المقدرة.
وتناول الكتاب منظومة المعادلات الآنية وبالذات الفروض العامة للمنظومة ومشكلة التشخيص والاختزال باعتبارها الخطوة الأساسية في بناء وتقدير معالم منظومة المعادلات الآنية،حيث تمّ التطرق إلى أسلوب المربعات الصغرى غير المباشرة وطريقة المربعات الصغرى ذات المرحلتين وأخيراً أسلوب المتغيرات المساعدة.
هذا وتضمن الفصل الأخير نتاج كل فصول الكتاب ،حيث تمّ توظيف كافة أساليب التقدير في عملية التنبؤ من خلال اعتماد المؤلف على النماذج القياسية المستندة إلى الدوال السلوكية ، وبالتالي تم التطرق وبشكل مفصل إلى التنبؤات المحصول عليها باستخدام تحليل الانحدار وتحليل السلاسل الزمنية.
إن هذا الكتاب بحق، يسد ثغرة في المكتبة العربية التي تفتقر إلى مثل هذا التخصص،ذلك لأنه يعدّ مدخلاً فعلياً لكثير من قرائه لغرض التعمق في أساليب القياس الاقتصادي ،إضافة إلى أن محتوياته وطريقة عرضه تثير في القارئ الرغبة في مواصلة دراسة هذا العلم،وتحفزه للتعرف على طرقه.
