يقوم هذا القاموس العربي-الألماني على التصنيف الأبجدي للكلمات العربية كما يُنطقُ دون الرجوع إلى جذر الكلمة. أما بالنسبة للكلمات الألمانية فمن المهم جداً في اللغة الألمانية، كما هو معروف، تصنيف الاسم لجهة الجنس (مذكر، مؤنث، محايد)، ولهذا عنى معدّ القاموس بالإشارة بعد الاسم بين قوسين إلى نوع الجنس، وأهمية ذلك تعود إلى كون الأسماء الألمانية يختلف تصريفها حسب جنسها وحسب موقعها الإعرابي، الأمر الذي يؤثر على هذه الأسماء سواء أكانت معرّفة بإحدى الأدوات (Das، Der، Die) التي تتغير حسب الموقع أو غير معرف فيقع التغيير على أدوات التنكير وعلى بنية الكلمة ذاتها. إلى جانب هذا عني معدّ القاموس بأن يضع أمام الكلمات العربية أكثر الكلمات الألمانية مطابقة لها في المعنى والاستعمال، خصوصاً في المصطلحات الحديثة. نتيجة لذلك جاء القاموس حاوياً لقرابة خمسة عشر ألف مادة وهذا ما يجعله صالحاً لأن يلبي حاجة الطلاب والباحثين في النصوص العربية والألمانية، ولا تفوتنا هنا الإشارة إلى أن اللغة الألمانية، بالإضافة إلى أهميتها الحضارية والثقافية، خصوصاً في ميادين الفلسفة والأدب والتكنولوجيا، أصبحت من اللغات الأجنبية المعترف بها في لبنان في المدارس والجامعات، إن ما يميز هذا القاموس عن غيره هو أنه يحتوي إلى جانب مادته الأساسية على ملحق مصور يضمّ لوحات ملونة لجسم الإنسان وخضار وفواكه وحيوانات وطيور.
