"رياض الصالحين من كلام سيد المرسلين" من أهم وأنفع كتب الأحاديث الصحيحة، يشتمل على ما يكون طريقاً لصاحبه إلى الآخرة محصلاً لآدابه الباطنة والظاهرة جامعاً للترغيب والترهيب وسائر أنواع آداب السالكين من أحاديث الزهد وياضات النفوس وتهذيب الأخلاق وطهارات القلوب وعلاجها وصياغة الجوارح وإزالة اعوجاجها وغير ذلك من مقاصد العارفين. وقد التزم مؤلفه الإمام النووي فيه أن لا يذكر إلا حديثاً صحيحاً من الواضحات مضافاً إلى الكتب الصحيحة المشهورات.
وقد صدَر الأبواب من القرآن العزيز بآيات كريمات ووشح ما يحتاج إلى ضبط أو شرح معنى بنفائس من التنبيهات ليكون بأبوابه طريقاً للسالك يقتدي به بما صح عن نبينا سيد الأولين والآخرين محمد صلوات الله عليه وعلى سائر النبين.
يبقى أن نشير أن كتاب (رياض الصالحين) يحتوي على (1892) حديث صحيح عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في العبادات والمعاملات والعادات ويختتم ببيان ما أعده الله تعالى للمؤمنين في الجنة.
