وقد التزم الإمام النووي في كتابه صحة الحديث وقوته، ولذا فإن الكتاب يعدّ من أنفس الكتب الجامعة للترغيب والترهيب، وسائر أنواع الآداب والأخلاق التي لا بد لكل بيت مسلم أن يعرضها في عصرنا الحالي، وحتى يكون عدّة للواعظين، وذخيرة للمتعظين، ومصباحاً للمهتدين. وقد ظلّ هذا الكتاب على مر العصور مرجعاً مهماً للعلماء وطلاب العلم والعامة، لما يتمتع به من ترتيب رائع صنفه مؤلفه بشكل سهل مبسط.
ولأهمية هذا الكتاب اعتنى العلماء والدارسون بدراسته وتحقيق ما يعرضه من مادة حديثة، ولا يدعي محقق هذا الكتاب أنه سيقوم بعمل جدية في هذه النسخة، وإنما يقول بأن عمله سيقتصر على شرح الكلمات المبهمة، فذكر في أكثر من موقع على المعنى المقصود، لبعض العبارات التي يقصد ظاهرها، كما وسيعتني بتخريج الآيات القرآنية الكريمة التي تم الاستشهاد بها في المتن.
