تنبأ النبي والأئمة عليهم السلام بما سيكون في آخر الزمان، وتكلموا عن حال الناس في التفكك الإجتماعي، والإستخفاف بحقوق الآخرين، وعدم الإحترام المتبادل، فورد عن الإمام الصادق عليه السلام أنه قال: "... ورأيت المؤمن مخزوناً محتقراً ذليلاً... ورأيت الشريف يستذله الذي يخافُ سلطانه... ورأيت العقوق قد ظهر واستخفّ بالوالدين... ورأيت ابن الرجل يفتري على أبيه ويدعو على والديه ويفرح بموتهما...".
ولما وصلنا في الحياة الإجتماعية إلى هذه المرحلة التي تحدث عنها أولياء الله تعالى وخاصته ارتأى مؤلف الكتاب السيد حسين نجيب محمد إلى وضع كتاب وسمه بــ (تكريم الناس) يرتكز خلاله على مفهوم "الكرامة والتكريم" ويفعل ذلك على ضوء النصوص الدينية وسيرة المعصومين عليهم السلام ليكون كما أراد له المؤلف "المنطلق في تقييم الآخرين وإحترامهم".
وبهدف توضيح معنى تكريم الناس، يتبع المؤلف نهجاً متسلسلاً في الفهم يبدأ بكرامة الإنسان على المخلوقات كافة، والكشف عن المُكرّمون والمفضلون في القرآن الكريم، ثم ينتقل إلى معيار التكريم وأثره على النفس والمجتمع، كما يشرح كيفية التكريم ومظاهره ومنها: تكريم العلماء تكريم قرّاء القرآن الكريم - تكريم قراء العزاء - تكريم المجاهدين - تكريم الجرحى - تكريم الشهداء - وتكريم السادة - أبناء رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، وغير ذلك من تكريم للشعراء والأبوين وكبار السن والمرأة والمعلم والعمال.
كما يتطرق الكتاب إلى موضوع الإحسان إلى الناس وأهميته في حياة الأمة وفوائده وشروطه ومكافأة المحسنين في الدنيا والآخرة.
