في الوقت الذي يؤكد فيه الروائي العربي عمق هواجسه وذلك المدى البعيد الذي بلغه وهو يؤسس أفق نصه الروائي، يجيء النقد ليلتقى معه، ويقرأ ذلك النص متتبعاً مسيرته، لا في سياق تجربة صاحب النص وحسب، بل في سياق مسيرة الرواية العربية الطويلة بهذا المعنى، تأتي هذه الدراسات التي يقدمها هذا الكتاب، وهو الثالث في سلسلة الإصدارات التي كرستها (دارة الفنون-مؤسسة خالد شومان) للرواية العربية، لبشير إلى أن النقد الرواية العربية بات منفتحاً بجرأة أكبر على المنجزات التي تتحقق دون انقطاع، غير مكتف بذلك الذي اكتمل وسبق للنقد أن جاوره وأعاد الحوار معه سنوات وسنوات.
يأتي هذا النقد ليؤكد أن ثمة ما يحدث، وأن الروائي العربي ما زال يقدم اقتراحاته التي تفني مسيرة الرواية، دون أن تسمح هذه الدراسات لنفسها بالوقوع في أسر سطوة الجاهز، أو أن تضع نقطة في آخر الكلام، كما يفعل ذلك النقد الكسول الذي تكلس في موقعه غير قادر على السير خطوة واحدة أخرى للأمام، مكتفياً بالأحكام التي قالها الآخرون مرجعاً وحيداً، بغض النظر عن قيمتها وشرعيتها، دون أن يلاحظ أنه بذلك يغلق البابين معاً: باب الفن وباب الحياة.
تؤكد هذه الدراسات حيوية النقد العربي، وتؤكد حضوره، لأن جزءاً أساساً من حياة أي نص تكمن في حجم قدرته على أن يثبت أنه يعيش زمانه والأزمنة الأخرى، وما مضى منها وما ينتظر على العتبات.
