يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن واقع الحرب وانعكاساتها على الطفل وذلك من خلال جزأين أساسيين ينقسم كل منهما إلى بضعة فصول: يتناول الفصل الأول منها حقوق الطفل على مجتمعه، والثاني لمحة شاملة حول "مبحث الأعراض المرضية" والثالث جولة سريعة حول الحرب بشكل عام والحر باللبنانية بشكل خاص. أما الفصل الرابع فيستعرض الحرب اللبنانية ومسبباتها.
بينما يركز الفصل الخامس على الواقع النفسي لهذه الحرب انطلاقاً من الوجهة النظرية. والفصل السادس يشكل بداية الأساس العملي المخصص لدراسة تأثيرات الحرب في شخصية الطفل اللبناني كما بدت على ضوء النتائج العملية-الميدانية. والفصل السابع خصص لتقويم حدة الاضطراب ودرجة تأثيره في البنية العميقة لشخصية الطفل، وخصص الفصل الثامن لدراسة اضطرابات مرضية بكل معنى الكلمة. وانتهى الكتاب بفصل تاسع تم فيه تقويم "مدى انعكاس الاضطراب وخطورته.
