يأتي هذا الكتاب، بوصفه محاولةً لتقديم معالجات جديدة لمجريات الحرب، في سياق وضعٍ حرج، من ناحية إيستوريوغرافية، يواجهه المؤرخ العربي، متمثل بغياب الأرشيف العربي لهذه الحرب، وبغياب أي روايات رسمية عربية عنها. وعلى الرغم من كثرة الكتابات العربية عن حرب حزيران/ يونيو 1967، فإنها ما تزال معدودة بالنسبة إلى حدث مفصلي تاريخي ترك آثاره، وما يزال، في المصير العربي برمته. وقد كانت مع يأتي هذا الكتاب، بوصفه محاولةً لتقديم معالجات جديدة لمجريات الحرب، في سياق وضعٍ حرج، من ناحية إيستوريوغرافية، يواجهه المؤرخ العربي، متمثل بغياب الأرشيف العربي لهذه الحرب، وبغياب أي روايات رسمية عربية عنها. وعلى الرغم من كثرة الكتابات العربية عن حرب حزيران/ يونيو 1967، فإنها ما تزال معدودة بالنسبة إلى حدث مفصلي تاريخي ترك آثاره، وما يزال، في المصير العربي برمته. وقد كانت معظم الكتابات جزءًا من المعركة الأيديولوجية والسياسية بين الأنظمة والقوى السياسية الحزبية العربية، كما أنها هدفت، في إجمالها، إلى تبرئة طرف وتحميل طرف آخر مسؤولية الهزيمة فيها، سواء أكان هذا الطرف نظامًا سياسيًا أم تيارًا سياسيًا/ أيديولوجيًا.
