احتلت سلطنة عُمان مكانة حضارية مرموقة ، تركت آثارها وبصماتها على امتداد الوطن العُماني ، وقد حرصت الحكومة على الإهتمام بالتراث القومي والقيم الثقافية والفكرية للبلاد . من هنا تأتي أهمية فتح الكاتبة " أحلام محمد رضا " شرفة على التراث العُماني . قدمت لها بمقدمة عن التاريخ العُماني وفيها تقول : التاريخ العُماني حصيلة طويلة من الزمن تعاقبت خلالها حضارات غنية تركت آثار أو بصمات على امتداد الأراضي العُمانية . وقد أولى مولانا صاحب الجلالة السلطان قابوس المعظم اهتماماً كبيراً بكنوز التاريخ ... وحرص على إعطاء التراث العُماني جانباً كبيراً من اهتمامه ( ... ) " . ولهذا تتطرق المؤلفة إلى عدد من الإنجازات لعدد من نماذج التراث العُماني ، ومن بين هذه الإنجازات والمكتشفات الأثرية القلاع والحصون والأبراج والماحف إلى جانب المخطوطات والوثائق ، كما يستعرض الحِرف اليدوية التقليدية ، وتكشف عن تاريخ عريق من العادات العُمانية ومنها مظاهر الإحتفال بالزواج والعقيقة ، وعادات الختان للأولاد والأسواق المحلية والأزياء والأمثال الشعبية ، وتبرز بالصور العديد من الأزياء العُمانية ومنها زي المرأة الصورية والأزياء البدوية ، وتقدم عرضاً جميلاً عن الفنون الشعبية العُمانية ومنها فنون الأعراس وفنون البادية ( الطارق والونة والتفرود ( والألعاب الشعبية مثل لعبة تدحرج الكرة ، وميديسوه ، ودلوم دلوم ، والحواليس ، ورجل مكسورة ، ولعبة شد الحبل ، ولعبة القنفذ وغيرها .
