في كتابه "الصراع العربي الإسرائيلي": الأصول والمستقبل" يقدم الباحث الدكتور :مجدي حماد" قراءته لمسير ة الصراع العربي –الإسرائيلي، ومستقبل التسوية بالإستناد إلى "فرضية أساسية" –يمكن القول إنها تلخص "خبرة التسويات القائمة"، كما إنها تصلح، وبالتالي، أساساً لتقدير احتمالات "التسويات القادمة" أيضاً.
تنصرف فرضية الدكتور حماد: إلى أن التسويات القائمة والقادمة تخضع لمنطق "السلام الإسرائيلي"- من ناحية، وأن المستقبل المنظور هو للتسويات الجزئية والمنفردة –من ناحية ثانية، ولفرض التسويات التي تتعامل مع الصراع العربي- الإسرائيلي باعتباره "الصراع الأساسي" في المنطقة، من ثم تجعل من الولايات المتحدة مجرد وسيط في "عملية السلام"، لا "الطرف الحقيقي" في الصراع الأساسي في المنطقة من ناحية ثالثة(...)".
وفي هذا السياق يقدم الكاتب فهماً حقيقياً لأصول الصراع والتسوية، في أبعادهما الاقليمية والعالمية... يرى فيها الصراع "صراع وجود.. لا الصراع حدود" وأن دور اسرائيل يأتي في إطار الدور الذي تمارسه "قوى الهيمنة الغربية" التي تستخدم جميع الوسائل –بما فيها اسرائيل- لضمان استمرار التخلف والتبعية والتجزئة في الوطن العربي.
يوزع الكاتب دراسته على ثلاثة أبواب ومباحث وخاتمة يبدأ الباب الأول بـ "مرحلة الصراع" ويمرَ الباب الثاني بـ "مرحلة التسوية"، وينتهي الباب الثالث بـ "مرحلة المستقبل".
وفصل الختام "ربيع العرب" ويبحث في الثورة والهيمنة...
