البداء ظهور الرأي بعد أن لم يكن، واستصواب شيء بعد أن لم يعلم. والبداء من جملة المسائل التي اختلف حولها المسلمون فحين يرى الإمامية أنها من صميم الدين يرى أهل السنة أنها هادفة للدين، والمرسالة البدائية مخطوطة للعلامة الميرزا محمد باقر الحائري بين فيها المراد من البداء وما وجه اختصاصه بالجودين والعسكريين عليهم السلام دون غيرهم من الأئمة المعصومين. فابتدأ بتعريف البداء وأقسام النسخ، والنسخ والعلم، وتقسيم العلم إلى ذاتي وحادث ثم تقسيم العلم الحادث إلى إمكاني وكوني. كما بين أن البداء يكون في المحكوم والمحكوم عليه وإن النسخ يكون في الحكم لا غير. وبين بعد ذلك أهمية البداء. وقد عمد المحقق الشيخ عبد المنعم العمران إلى مطابقة النسختين اللتين حصل عليهما وقام بتقطيع النص ووضع له العناوين الفرعية كما عمد إلى تخريج الآيات والروايات ومصادر الأقوال والحق بالكتاب فهارس للآيات والأحاديث والإعلام والمذاهب والمصطلحات والبلدان إكمالاً للفائدة وتسهيلاً على القارئ والباحث.
