كيف كانت حياة المسلمين في مجتمعهم؟ وما القضاء الذي حكمهم؟ وماذا عن الفن والأدب؟
يعرّف هذا الكتاب بأساسيات الدين الإسلامي باختصار يلمّ فيه بأصوله الكبرى. يبدأ المؤلف كتابه بمقدمة تبين سبب تأليف الكتاب، ثم يتحدث عن حياة العرب قبل الإسلام في مجتمعهم وعقائدهم ومعارفهم وأعمالهم، ويتناول بعدها لمحات من السيرة النبوية وحياة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في إضاءات عامة. ثم يبحث في أركان الدين وهي أركان الإيمان وأركان الإسلام والحياة الروحية. ينتقل بعدها إلى الحديث عن الدستور الإسلامي وهو القرآن الكريم والحديث النبوي والاجتهاد. وألحق بذلك ما يتعلق بالواجبات من مأمورات ومنهيات وآداب.
وتوقف المؤلف عند الحياة الإسلامية العامة؛ التي أسسها النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ورسم طريقها بدءاً بالحياة السياسية والدبلوماسية فالحياة العسكرية (الجهاد) فالحياة الاجتماعية، فالقضاء فالحياة الاقتصادية فالحياة العلمية والفكرية، فالحياة الصحّية فالحياة الأدبية والفنية، لتتكامل صورة الدولة الإسلامية. وختم المؤلف كتابه بحديثه عن روح الدين الإسلامي.
