"خلال الرحلة من باريس إلى مدريد، كاد عمر بن عبد الجليل يتوسل إلي بأن أبذل مجهوداً في الأخذ بعين الإعتبار بحساسية علال الفاسي، وردّد مراراً بخلاصته بالقول: "لدينا في الحزب هذان الطبعان، ولا بدَّ لنا من أن نتعايش معهما، إذ إنهما ضروريان لنا معاً...".
في محطة القطار بمدريد، كان علال وحيداً في إنتظارنا، وبدا كما لو تغيّر جسدياً قليلاً، نفس النظرة الزرقاء، التي تبدأ نفّاذة قبل أن تذهب بعيداً كما لو أنها تبحث عن حلم داخلي، كان اللقاء تنقصه الحرارة العفوية والتلقائية... بدا الحاج عمر كما لو أنه يقول لي إن الجو مكهرب. بعدها جاء بلافريج واليزيدي، في سيارة أميركية ضخمة، تبدو فارهة أكثر من اللازم في نظري.
كان اللقاء صعباً على رصيف القطار، حاول الحاج عمر واليزيدي خلق نوع من اللطافة في الجو، في حين بقي بلافريج أكثر شحوباً من العادة، بعيداً، ومطبق الشفتين، خاطبه علال بصريح العبارة قائلاً: "أنا لا أملك سيارة شخصية، وقد جئت بالتاكسي للقاء رفاقي!"، فأجابه الآخر بأن أقسم ألا يضع قديمه في نفس السيارة معه.
تسمّرتُ في مكاني لا أعرف ما أعمل، ثم ومن دون مقدّمات عانقت علال الفاسي، فرأيت الدموع في عينيه، جلس في السيارة، وأنا بجانبه، أما اليزيدي والحاج عمر فقد جاءا يصحبان معهما بلافريج، تمّ إغلاف ملف الحادثة فاتّجهنا نحو فندق فيلاسكويز، وعاد التفاهم بيننا، واستطعنا الشروع في القضايا الجدّية".
