تدون الرواية مفاصل مهمة مما حدث في العراق بعد الإحتلال الأميركي وزوال النظام السابق، والفوضى التي رافقت تلك التغيرات الزلزالية وقادت إلى دمار المكان القديم، وأغلقت أفق الحياة لمدن بكاملها.
إنها حكاية تروى على لسان شخص عاش تلك الأحداث وسقط في سحر الماضي، بعد أن أصبح لاجئاً في وطنه، وشعر أن حياته انتهت بإنتهاء روح تلك القرية التي عاش فيها والمدينة الخربة التي انبعثت من السنين كما لو كانت شبحاً قادماً من الصحراء.
هي مسامرات يلونها الخيال، والحزن، والموت، تستعيد أيضاً قصص حب ومصائر مرسومة لماض لن يعود، مصائر تلهو في تلك البقعة المضطربة من بلاد الرافدين.
جسر بزيبز هو معبر نحيل على نهر الفرات، يربط غرب العراق بالعاصمة بغداد، على ذلك الجسر مرت الحكايات غريبة، جارحة، مثقلة بالجنون، لتمضي نحو مدارها المجهول.
