تشكل "لؤلؤة القاع" للروائية السورية "نور الجندلي" سجلاً حياتياً/ اجتماعياً حافلاً بالأحداث المتحققة والمتخيلة، وتقول تاريخ وطن وحكاية مدينة وثقافة مجتمع أرادت "نور الجندلي" الكشف عن بعض هنَاته وتقاليده، وعاداته، من خلال "رواية" البطلة التي اختارتها مثقفة استطاعت من خلال عملها في المدرسة من إحداث الوعي اللازم لدى طالباتها لينظروا إلى الحياة بمنظار آخر أكثر إيجابية، وتابعت مسيرها نحو الحي الذي تقطنه وكما تسميه "الحي العجيب" الذي تعشعش فيه الأفكار القديمة البالية من سحر وشعوذة وإيمان بالغيبيات، إلى سلوك آخر جعلت من خلاله نساء الحي يصنعن الحياة بالوعي وبالعقل والقلب معاً.. حيث تشاركت مع الجميع هموم الحي، وعقدت الندوات التربوية والثقافية وتحاور الجميع وطرحوا مشكلاتهم فاستطاعوا "إعادة جارتنا الغالية من المصح، بعد أن أثبتت الفحوصات سلامتها العقلية، وقررن إعادة دورات توعية للفتيات في سن المراهقة، والمقبلات على الزواج، (...) فكانت بداية العصر الذهبي لذلك الحي البائس".
هذه الحكاية تصوغها نور الجندلي بخطاب روائي يعكس خبيرة كبيرة في الروي، ويمتلك مواصفات خاصة، على مستوى الراوي، والسرد، والحوار، والزمن، واللغة والأدوات الفنية الأخرى، وبهذا جعلت من "لؤلؤة القاع" زمناً للقراءة الممتعة.
"أتى رافد إلينا وعلى وجهه مسحة حيرة مختلطة بحزن...
كانت أمي حينها في بيت أم محمود على عادتها، تناقشُ معها قضايا الحي المحلية والدولية.سأل ببرود عن أمي، وكأنه يعرف الجواب مسبقاً، وفهمتُ بأنه قادمٌ خصيصاً من أجلي..
نظرتُ في عينيه ألتمسُ دفء الأخوة الذي اشتقتُ إليه، وغيبته عني هموم الحياة.
بدا مرتبكاً يفركُ كفّاً بكف، وحبات من العرق تتقاطر من جبينه رغم برودة الطقس، وكأنه مقدم على جريمة بحديثه معي، وبدا لي ضائعاً لا يعرف كيف السبيلُ إلى الخروج من مأزقٍ زجّ بنفسه داخله.
فرأيتُ أن أحسم الأمر وقد فهمتُ من ارتباكه أنه متعلق بزواجي، وهو الذي حمل هذه القضيّة على عاتقه، وآلى على نفسه أن يوجد لي عريساً من الشّرق أو الغرب، من أرض السِّند أو الهند."
