"الأستاذ يونس: طويل نحيل. وجهه: فيه استطالة. شاربه: مبعثر وشعره قليل.. عيونه: تعبة غائرة وفيها كسر أبدي عميق. رغبته في إنجاز الوحدة العربية كما وردت في النصوص وحرفاً بحرف: "ما في أحلى من إنه العرب يتحدوا يا طلاب". بيده عصا طويلة، تستخدمها آذنة المدرسة للتنظيف عندما نعود إلى بيوتنا. في الحقيقة بيده عصا التنظيف نفسها، يرتكز عليها بيده اليمين. خارطة فلسطين المستطيلة معلقة على اللوح الأخضر الغامق. الأستاذ يونس يشير بعصا المساحة نفسها... أين كان العرب "قبل "الـ 76" وأين صاروا بعد "الـ73"" الخريطة تهزّ. رامز في آخر مقعد في الصف، بجانب الشباك المخلوع، يقول بصمت كأنه نشيش الماء في ورق الكرتون: "أنا بكره فلسطين" الأستاذ يسمعه، بهدوء غير معهود ونادر؛ فيه شيء من الإعجاز، وبدلاً من الألف عصا على رأس رامز كالعادة، وبعد أن يرمق كل شبابيك الصف المخلّعة، يرفع الأستاذ بنطاله المخطط، وبنبرة حكيم ساخر يقول: "رامز! بحياتك قول للطلاب ليش! ليش يا رامز... بتكره فلسطين!". رامز يتفاجأ ويتردد و.. يقول: "يا أستاذ أنا بكره فلسطين لأنه كل درس فلسطين، وبالراديو فلسطين، وع الأكل فلسطين، وفلسطين كل يوم وكل ساعة، وبسبب فلسطين يا أستاذ راحت نهاد... نهاد الأطيب من شجر التين وريحة الزنزلخت، الأحلى من دروس القومية والتاريخ والجغرافيا... لولا فلسطين ما كانت هربت مع شوفير مكروباص المارسيدس، نهاد، مثلما بتعرف يا أستاذ راحت مع الشوفير بعدما راح أبوها ع العسكرية بسبب فلسطين. أنا بعد هداك اليوم ما عدت جمّع وصرت بخبر كان".
في مجموعته هذه يستحضر سهيل شدّود الواقع الاجتماعي بكل هناته بأسلوب ساخر. يرسم الكاتب المشاهد رسماً كاريكاتورياً ويجري الحوارات التي تتوافق وتلك الرسوم ناسجاً للقارئ ومن خلال أسلوب شيق حدثاً يخلق مناخاً قصصياً ممتعاً يرقى بعمل الكاتب أسلوباً ولغة ومعانٍ والأكثر من هذا يجعل عمله هذا في عداد الأعمال التي تروم نقداً اجتماعياً هادفاً. وتجدر الإشارة إلى متعة أخرى يضيفها الكاتب للقارئ من خلال نصوصه القصصية هذه والتي جاءت باللغة الإنكليزية في القسم الثاني من هذا الكتاب، بالإضافة إلى القرص المدمج (C.D) المرفق بهذا الكتاب.
