يلقي المؤلف الضوء على دواوين الشاعر شمس الدين، كل ديوان بمفرده ابتداء من "قصائد مهرّبة الى حبيبتي آسيا" وانتهاء بـ"شيرازيات" من خلال دراسة تحليلية نقدية شائقة تناولت معظم المحطات الشعرية للشاعر، وقد أضاف الباحث عملاً رائداً، عن شاعر من أبرز شعراء العصر الحديث، الى جانب ما صدر من أعمال وأبحاث ورسائل جامعية عنه، في لبنان والعالم العربي، وبعض الجامعات في أوروبا (مثل جامعة الأوتونوما في مدريد)، ذكرها الطالب في متن بحثه، دليلاً على المكانة التي يحتلها الشاعر في ضمير الشعر العربي الحديث والمعاصر.
