وفي هذا الكتاب يجمع الأستاذ أحمد فال الدين مقابلات أجريت مع الدكتور الأحمدي في الصحف والمواقع الألكترونية اختار لها عنوان "مطارحات في الفكر والدين" لقرب عبارة المطارحة لغوياً وتراثياً مما يسميه الناس اليوم بالمقابلات. ففي مختار الصحاح أن "المطارحة إلقاء القوم المسائل بعضهم على بعض". وهذه مسائل ألقيت على الدكتور الأحمري في سنوات تكثفت فيها عناصر التاريخ في محيط الأمة وتجددت فيها طراوة أسئلة الدولة والدين والشرعية والطائفية.
وفي هذا الكتاب أيضاً يقع القارىء على أجوبة عن أسئلة تشغله يدلو الدكتور الأحمري برأيه فيها مثل: منشأ الجماعات الإسلامية في المنطقة وخطابها، الصحوة أو "اليقظة" الإسلامية الحديثة ومدارسها الفكرية والعقيدية، رأيه في ما يعرف بـ "الهلال الشيعي" ، تعليقه على قصة "ديمي" للدكتور الحضيف، رأيه بمن يرفع شعار "آل البيت" و "آل محمد"، موقفه من مقاومة حزب الله لإسرائيل؟، "فكرة الشرق الأوسط الجديد" ، الطريقة الصحيحة التي ينبغي علينا أن نقرأ بها التاريخ وندرسه؛ قراءته للحالة السلفية في السعودية، مشروعية الديموقراطية، الليبرالية ومعارضة المتدينون لها، وعن رأيه في السياسة الإيرانية في المنطقة؛ وكذلك في الثورات العربية، والعلاقة مع الغرب، وبرنامجه الإصلاحي ... وغيرها الكثير.
