هو عالم وأديب سوري وأستاذ في جامعة دمشق، وأحد أبرز المفكرين والمثقفين في سورية، لديه أكثر من 22 انتاج أدبي وعلمي في مختلف الميادين الأدبية والسياسية والعلمية.
كان له الفضل في تحقيق مكاسب كبيرة لأعضاء اتحاد الكتاب العرب وخاصة في أول سنتين من تسلمه رئاسة اتحاد الكتاب العرب في عام 2005 تمثلت بتحقيق وفر عام بقيمة 27 مليون ليرة سورية، كما قام برفع قيمة الضمان شالصحي وأجور الأعضاء.

هذا الكتاب يجيب عن أسئلةٍ شتى أثارتها الأزمة السورية التي أكلت سبع سنوات من عمر الزمن الحيوي للدولة الوطنية، وقد توقف عند الثقافة الوطنية بوصفها مسؤولية خلقية ذاتية وموضوعية، وقاعدة التقدم وأساس النهوض في عصر تفجر المعرفة والتقنيات، وفي عصر تزحف فيه العولمة لمحو ثقافات الأمم والشعوب.
لذا فإن الثقافة الوطنية حاجة ضرورية للدفاع عن الشخصية الوطنية، وخَلْق الأساليب الفاعلة لمواجهة التحديات المستجدة في كل إتجاه، بما يجعلها الأصل الذي يعبرّ عن كرامة الإنسان وسيادة الأوطان؛ وتزويد أبناء الوطن بالقدرة على التصدي لأي شكل من أشكال تشويه الإنتماء الوطني، أو النيل من وحدة الأرض والشعب.
