عظمة الحياة أنها تصنع أبناءها مرتين: مرة حين تَهَبُ لهم روحها، وأخرى حين يوفونها الدَّين، يكونون هم الصناع والمبدعين وبهم تستمر الحياة. والدَّينُ الذي رده "عبد السلام بوعزة الجزائري" إلى الحياة كان أكثر ممّا لها في عنقه. بدأ وعداً، وحين اقتدر لم يحنثْ فوهب وأفاض. يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن سجل حافل بالبطولات لمناضل خاض جهاداً مريراً في وجه الاستعمار الفرنسي، ودخل غياهب السجن، أكثر من مرة، مرفوع الرأس في سبيل النضال لمبادئه، وثمناً لجهاده من أجل الحرية والاستقلال لبلده الثاني لبنان. كان عبد السلام الجزائري، منذ طفولته، يحمل بين جنبيه جذوة النضال الذي ابتدأه في أوائل صباه، بتحطيم الحواجز الاجتماعية التي وجد نفسه فيها وهو في يتم الأبوين، وأذاقته شدة الفاقة التي فتح عينيه عليها فخالفه النجاح مرة وفَتَّ الفشل عضده مراراً... ولأن الإنسان لا يستطيع أن يتجاوز واقعه باتجاه التغيير إلا إذا تصالح مع نفسه، لم يعش عبد السلام خطين مختلفين من الحياة في العمل الخاص والنضال، ولا حمل فكرين متناقضين، ولا لبس قناعاً يُخفي وراءه حقيقة روحه، بل اتسع نطاق حياته الخاصة ليتداخل مع قضاياه النضالية، واستغرقه النضال إلى درجة الاندماج مع محيطه وبيئته ومساحة الانتماء. في هذا الإطار كان التزامه التصدي للانتداب الفرنسي في لبنان، ومساهمته في دعم القضية الفلسطينية، ثم التفرغ لقضايا التحرر المغربية في الجزائر ومراكش وتونس منذ سنة 1964. يتوزع الكتاب على ثمان فصول متلاحقة حافلة بسيرة وعطاءات المناضل عبد السلام بوعزة الجزائري، وكان آخرها يتحدث عن الابنة التي تابعت رسالة أبيها من خلال تأسيس جمعية خيرية غايتها الأولى إنشاء مدرسةٍ تحمل اسم عبد السلام الجزائري في لبنان، فشاءت الابنة "منى" أن تعوض الوالد في مماته ما حرمته منه الحياة؛ وذلك بأن تهب هذه النعمة لبعض أبناء بيروت. وكما قال سقراط: "الخير الوحيد في العالم هو العلم".
